2001 Jaguar XKR Convertible

This 2001 Jaguar XKR Convertible is a classy, untouched example of a British modern classic, painted in a gorgeous factory color scheme. It is propelled by a 4.0-liter, 370-horsepower supercharged AJ-V8 engine that is connected to a five-speed automated transmission and sends power to the rear wheels. Since new, the odometer has traveled 77,833 miles.

The initial registration for this XKR, a vintage right-hand drive model for the UK market, occurred in September 2001. The log book lists four previous registered keepers, including the previous XKR Enthusiasts Club chair. The seller has owned and appreciated the vehicle for for six years, during which time he has only sometimes driven it.

This Jaguar’s bodywork is in excellent condition, and the Pacific Blue paint looks great. The front has a few small stone chips, as you would expect from road wear.

The blue fabric convertible hood was replaced in 2011 and is in excellent condition with no tears, holes, or other wear to the fabric. The tonneau cover is in excellent condition and made of ivory leather to match the inside. The car is equipped with the proper set of 18-inch “Double Five” alloy wheels, which are essentially untouched and just have a few very minor dings on the nearside front wheel.

The ivory interior upholstery contrasts beautifully with the outside color. The front seats were retrimmed in 2013 to the original specifications, including the perforated center panels, and the leather itself is in exceptional condition throughout. They provide complete electric adjustability, heating, and driver memory settings. The back seats are in excellent condition and have clearly been used less frequently.

The center console and dashboard also include burr walnut veneers, while the tops of the steering wheel, door caps, and dashboard have a darker finish. Although the lower portion of the steering wheel trim is slightly faded and worn, overall, it is in fair condition. The headliner is still in excellent condition below the fabric hood.

The “CATS” adaptive suspension system, automatic air conditioning, cruise control, and rear parking sensors are all factory-installed features. There is also the original Jaguar radio cassette player and CD changer. None of the switchgear has any known electrical defects, and it all functions as it should.

In August 2015, at 76,865 miles, the engine oil, oil filter, and suspension bushes were replaced as part of the latest planned maintenance. The vendor claims that a nearby independent Jaguar specialist and garage has maintained the vehicle at no additional cost during his ownership.

A new ABS sensor was recently installed, and the handbrake system was also adjusted and refurbished. The battery, both fuel pumps, rear suspension arm bushes, and the power hood hydraulic lines have all been changed while the seller has had the vehicle. According to the history file, the timing chain, tensioners, and head and exhaust gaskets were all replaced in 2009.

Numerous old invoices, MOT certificates, and a printed workshop manual are all included in a sizable collection of documents; however, a previous owner misplaced the original service book.

This 2001 Jaguar XKR Convertible is a classy, modern British classic that has been lovingly maintained by both its current owner and likely its former keepers as well. This large tourer is at its best on a sunny day with the roof down, playing the laid-back cruiser but always ready to thrill with its supercharged V8.

Which is better XK8 or XKR?

Performance capability is where the two models diverge most. The 32-valve AJ V8 engine is the same in all versions, but the Jaguar XKR has a supercharged version of the V8 engine. The supercharged XKR has a top speed of 155 mph and can reach 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds.

What does the R stand for in 2001 Jaguar XKR Convertible?

The most potent cars in the Jaguar model range proudly carry the letter R, which stands for “Racing.” There are several exceptions, but by definition those are the “Supercharged” cars and trucks with a mechanical compressor.

What is the difference between XK and XKR?

In 2007, a more potent XKR model with a supercharged engine type was released. Four-way twin exhausts, reworked front bumper and hood louvres for better engine airflow, and distinctive Jaguar “R” insignia and badges in the inside and exterior are all aesthetic distinctions from the XK.

Is Jaguar XKR a sports car?

Jaguar’s XKR, a sensational supercharged V8-powered vehicle, combines full GT capabilities with sports car performance. The Jaguar XKR Coupe’s charismatic supercharged V8 and dynamic handling make it an immensely fast and enjoyable vehicle to drive. It has greater class and is more engaging than both a Mercedes SL63 AMG and a BMW M6.
